In the wake of the devastating flash floods that struck the Nepal-Tibet border region on August 27, 2026, the Asian Network for the Rights of Occupational and Environmental Victims (ANROEV) stands in grief and solidarity with the people of Nepal and Tibet, and with all those affected by this unimaginable tragedy.

The disaster, triggered by a glacial collapse that sent a massive surge of water, mud, and debris down the Lhende River valley, has devastated communities on both sides of the border. Hundreds of lives have been lost, many more remain missing, and countless families have lost their homes as bridges, roads, and vital infrastructure were swept away. We recognize that among the dead and missing are local residents, migrant workers, and travelers from many nations, and our thoughts are with all of their families during this agonizing wait for news.

We stand in solidarity with the people of Nepal and Tibet in this time of profound grief. We call for the continued safety and support of rescue workers and affected communities, for the dignified recovery and proper burial of those who have died, and for every effort to locate the missing and reunite them with their loved ones.

We join our fellow members and partner organizations across the region in echoing these calls, and we urge sustained attention to the safety and well-being of survivors long after the immediate emergency response ends. Our hearts remain with the communities across the Himalayan region who now carry the weight of this loss.
