ANROEV’s Statement on the 6th Anniversary of the LG Vizag Gas Leak

The Asian Network for the Rights of Occupational and Environmental Victims (ANROEV) expresses its continued solidarity with the victims and communities affected by the gas leak from LG Chem in Visakhapatnam. Six years later, this tragedy is not only a past event; it remains an ongoing reality for those who continue to live with its impacts.
Many survivors are still facing health problems, environmental damage, and loss of livelihood. Despite this, justice and accountability have yet to be fully realized. Each passing year serves as both a moment of remembrance and a reminder that responses have been delayed and inadequate.
ANROEV calls on the Government of India, LG Chem, and the Government of South Korea to take clear, immediate, and concrete action. The continued delay in addressing the needs of affected communities is unacceptable. Victims have the right to proper medical care, adequate compensation, and full accountability for the harm they have suffered.
We also call on the public and civil society to stand in solidarity with the victims. While remembrance is important, it must be accompanied by sustained action. Only through collective effort can justice be achieved and similar tragedies be prevented in the future.
