This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Bhopal Gas Disaster, a catastrophe that remains the world’s worst industrial disaster. On December 3, 1984, a toxic cloud of methyl isocyanate gas leaked from the Union Carbide plant in Bhopal, India. Within days, thousands perished, and over the years, tens of thousands more have succumbed to its aftermath. Over 500,000 survivors continue to endure chronic illnesses, poisoned water, and a lifelong struggle for justice.
ANROEV extends its heartfelt sympathy to the families of the workers who died in this workplace tragedy. It also stands in solidarity with labor groups calling for immediate assistance to the families of the deceased and the injured workers. We demand swift justice for those who lost their lives at work.

While the court’s decision to award compensation is a step forward, it must be followed by concrete actions to restore the affected areas and support the affected families in rebuilding their communities and livelihoods.
